Affiliate Group
Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology Affiliate Program Group (APG) was formally recognized by the College of Agricultural Sciences Alumni Society (CAAS) Board in January 2007.
The purpose of this APG is to stimulate the continued interest of all graduates, former students, and friends of the Department; to act as an informal resource to the Department Head, faculty, and students; and to provide a means whereby alumni and friends may join together for the enhancement of the programs of the Department and the College of Agricultural Sciences
The board meets regularly to develop programs that will be beneficial to students, alumni and the department. Continued input from alumni is welcomed, as this is an ongoing project
For its first activity, your APG board has adopted the alumni mentoring program as its main effort for the coming year. We expect to begin contacting alumni soon to ask you to share your expertise with third year students. Another activity is helping students with job interview skills. Volunteers for all efforts would be most welcome. We will also be asking for your help to recruit students for our department.
At the January 9, 2007 meeting the board decided on a voluntary dues structure. It was decided to ask for annual dues of $10. The dues would be used to support printing and mailing the newsletter, and other communications that may arise. It was also decided that an additional donation would be solicited to go into a fund that would be used to support expenditures by the board to support undergraduate, graduate or other activities.
