Better Kid Care (BKC)
The Better Kid Care (BKC) Program operating in conjunction with the Extension Family Living agents provides educational materials, learning experiences and programs to child care providers, parents and employers throughout the Commonwealth. A number of different methodologies are utilized including satellite conferences, video-training workshops, web resources and on-site training and toll-free telephone help lines. The goal of the BKC Program is to help improve the availability, accessibility and quality of childcare through out Pennsylvania. The BKC Program is funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, Pennsylvania Child Care/Early Childhood Development Training System, and is administered in the Department and directed by Professor James E. Van Horn (jev@psu.edu). Faculty from within the university and from other educational institutions in the state are involved in the development and implementation of the program.
