The Northeast Regional Center for Rural Development (NERCRD)
The Northeast Regional Center for Rural Development (NERCRD) is one of
4 federally funded regional centers coordinating rural development research
and extension education throughout the United States. The Center serves
as a catalyst for stimulating and coordinating the initiative and programming
of the rural development faculty from the 15 land-grant institutions in
the Northeast region. NERCRD is housed in the Department of Agricultural
Economics and Rural Sociology, but it is a semi-autonomous unit with its
own budget, staff, advisory committee, and Board of Directors. The Center
is directed by Professor Stephan Goetz (sgoetz@psu.edu).
