New Report Released by Dr. Hallberg: References on Agricultural History and Rural Life in the United States

This report, prepared by Milton C. Hallberg, Professor Emeritus of Agricultural Economics, provides a listing of over 600 books and articles dealing with various aspects of U. S. agricultural history and rural life.  It is by no means an exhaustive listing, but should be helpful to individuals who wish to pursue the subject in some depth.  Included in the listing are works on (1) agricultural statistics for the entire country and for the various states, (2) selected commodity studies, (3) general histories of the sector, (4) agricultural research and education, (5) political activism in agriculture, and (6) early rural life in America.  A brief description of the contents of many of these works is provided in an effort to make the report more useful to the reader.  A rather large section of novels on agricultural pioneering in the U. S. is also included along with a brief annotation of each.
