David Blandford Elected President of Agricultural Economics Society of the United Kingdom
David Blandford has been elected president of Agricultural Economics Society of the United Kingdom for 2010/11. David will join the executive committee for a three year term at the annual meeting in Dublin, Ireland in April 2009. His presidential address will be given at the 2010 meeting in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Jeffrey Hyde, associate professor in Penn State's Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology, has been appointed state program leader for entrepreneurial and value-added agricultural systems with Penn State Cooperative Extension.

Alisha Coleman-Jensen Awarded National Science Foundation Doctoral Dissertation Research Grant
Alisha Coleman-Jensen has been awarded a National Science Foundation Doctoral Dissertation Research Grant titled, "Food Insecurity and Nonstandard Work among Low-income Rural Households, a Longitudinal Analysis." The grant is for one year beginning August 15, 2008.
