Edward C. Jaenickie Receives Teaching Award of Merit Teaching from Gamma Sigma Delta
Edward C. (Ted) Jaenicke received the Teaching Award of Merit from Gamma Sigma Delta, the Honor Society of Agriculture, The Pennsylvania State University Chapter.
Two Rural Sociology Graduate Students Received Second Place Awards at the 2009 Penn State University Graduate Exhibition, Social and Behavioral Sciences Division
Dara Bloom for "Hybrid Food Networks: The Role of Conventional Distributors in Building Local Food Systems." Carla Shoff for "Teenage Fertility: Does Place, Race, or Poverty Matter?" Carla's poster also received the second place Graduate Social Science award in the 2009 College of Agricultural Sciences/Gamma Sigma Delta Research Expo. Congratulations to Carla and Dara!

Edward (Ted) Jaenicke Recipient of the 2009 Gamma Sigma Delta Faculty Award for Outstanding Teaching
Congratulations to Ted Jaenicke for being the recipient of the 2009 Gamma Sigma Delta Faculty Award for Outstanding Teaching. Ted was nominated by his peers and an evaluation committee selected him as the most deserving of this award after reviewing all nominations of faculty across the College of Agricultural Sciences. Ted will be presented this award at the Annual Initiation and Awards Ceremony held on April 8 at 5:00 p.m. in the Keeney Commons and Room 252 of the Food Science Building.
Michael W-P Fortunato Awarded Howard F. Martin Graduate Assistant Teaching Award
Congratulations!! Michael W-P Fortunato, Rural Sociology, has been awarded the Howard F. Martin Graduate Assistant Outstanding Teaching Award. The Harold F. Martin Graduate Assistant Outstanding Teaching Award recognizes graduate assistants for outstanding teaching performance. This award is jointly sponsored by the Graduate School, through the Harold F. Martin Graduate Assistant Outstanding Teaching Award endowment, and the Office of the Vice President and Dean for Undergraduate Education.
James Beierlein Received the Barash Award for Human Services
Congratulations to Jim Beierlein, who has received the University's 2009 Barash Award for Human Services, which recognizes a university member at University Park "who has contributed most, apart from regular duties, to human causes, public service activities, and organizations, or the welfare of fellow humans." He will receive the award at the University Awards Reception on March 23.
Carolyn Sachs Received the International Women's Day Spirit of Internationalization Award
Carolyn Sachs will receive the The International Women’s Day Spirit of Internationalization Award sponsored by the University Office of Global Programs at PSU on March 6. This award recognizes women with international interests who have shown extraordinary strength of character and commitment to the cause of internationalization, through a variety of initiatives or methods of support, including advancing the status of women worldwide, research achievements in the international arena, and encouraging the academic achievements of scholars from other nations.
